Constitutional Amendment Fails Referendum

The First Amendment to the Constitution has failed to pass the necessary referendum, due to a lack of turnout. The Constitution requires that all Amendments reach a majority verdict in a referendum. The First Amendment is an electoral reform law that seeks to specify minimum term lengths and especially minimum turnout for future referendums. Due to the minimum turnout not being reached after several days, Parliament has called off the referendum and withdrawn the Amendment, bringing it back to the Draft stage.

Further modifications to the Amendment are expected, and a new Referendum will likely take place.
