Tourist Dies To Attraction On Opening Day

Yesterday, the Londinium Eye, on its opening night, no less, suffered from a tragic accident in which an as of yet unidentified man fell through the floor of the elevator midway through transit. The man had jumped across an unsecured section of the observatory and had burrowed his way into some of the shaft circuitry. When police arrived, he was quickly rescued and escorted to the elevator. During transit, the floor malfunctioned and he fell through to the bottom of the shaft, which killed him instantly.

Controversially, the ride did not close, and remains open, reportedly due to pressure from corporate sponsors, namely BAYER, though a two-person capacity limit was put in place and passengers were strongly recommended to remain still during transit. There are rumours of a lawsuit due to the fact that the police did not immediately help the victim, though the exact plaintiff remains unclear given that the victim died as a result of the malfunction.

Both the City of Londinium Council, who own and operate the ride, and the Metropolitan Police declined to comment.
