The Crossrail platform on Bond Street has been partially completed, and a more complete picture of how the platform will look is now available to the general public. The first available detail would be the uni-directional tunnels; two train tunnels, one in each direction, are employed on either side of the station, which should lead to fewer collisions.
Secondly, you can just make out the fact that the new train tunnels will have a size of 3×3, making for a significantly larger train tunnel than the cramped 2×2 of the Central, Jubilee, and Northern lines. Finally, we can see that light gray concrete is indeed here to stay, which may disappoint those looking for a more interesting colour scheme, but to be fair the Tube has always opted for an ultra-minimalist, almost industrial aesthetic.
Finally, the use of glowstone instead of the standard fluorescent lighting is an interesting change, and its permanence is debated - some argue it to be a temporary fixture for until the maintenance shaft is constructed and standard fluorescent lamps are wired up. Either way, the current result is considerably brighter than the other platforms, that’s for sure, though whether it’s permanent remains to be seen.
