Oxford Circus Station Closed 'For Renovation'

Transport for Londinium (TfL) have closed Bond Street Platform Two and its connecting station, Oxford Circus, ‘for renovations’. Thus far, the Oxford Circus tunnel has been selaed, but the Bond Street platform remains unchanged. Reports of ‘loud machinery’ near the stations, implying renovation work.

Despite the high profile nature of the closure, TfL declined to make any comment on what the renovation will be or how long it’ll take. Given TfL’s earlier discussions of renovating the platform to coincide with the Crossrail station redesign, this could be them making an all-new platform. But if that’s the case, why isn’t Bond Street Platform Two sealed?
