TfL Open New Bond Street Platform Two

Yesterday (after the release of that day’s Londinium Times), Transport for Londinium opened a replacement for Bond Street Platform Two. The new platform features a design based on Crossrail, and makes use of an elevator to ascend and descend, rather than a watervator.

The connecting Oxford Circus has also been renovated, with both stations being all but identical from each other.

Some other optimisations have been made aside from the station and tunnel designs. For one, the stations are much more symmetrical than even the Crossrail stations, though some compromises had to be made to fir the elevator.

The existing tunnels have been sealed off entirely, with part of the original Platform Two maintenance shaft being sealed in stone for reasons as yet unknown.

The original platforms, alongside Bond Street Platform One, are available for hire as film shooting locations.
